The main games lineup for Evo 2024 has been revealed, and to the surprise of no one, Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 are the headline acts. Those heavy hitters will be joined by Guilty Gear Strive, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Under Night In-Birth 2 [Sys:Celes], Mortal Kombat 1, King of Fighters XV, and Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike (the latter being Evo's 'retro' pick for 2024).
This'll be the very first Evo for Tekken 8 and Under Night In-Birth 2. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is also a newer game, but it actually had a pre-release tournament at Evo 2023, so this technically isn't its first appearance.
For those totally out of the loop, Evo is the world's biggest fighting game event, consisting of professional-level tournaments for major titles. It's typically watched by hundreds of thousands of people over the course of its dedicated weekend, and anyone can enter its competitions. A few years back, Evo was acquired by Sony, and so PlayStation is now its main sponsor.
Evo 2024 will take place over the weekend starting 19th July, until the 21st July. It's being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, if the name didn't already give it away. You can register for an Evo pass right now by visiting the official site — but if you're staying home, you'll be able to watch all of the action via official channels on streaming sites like Twitch.

Unironically surprised Mortal Kombat 1 made it in. I thought it was gonna get MvC I’ed, especially with how NRS games haven’t been that big in general for the greater FGC.
If xbox goes 3rd party KI can be a retro tournament in the future, Sony already gave it some love last year. A PS port could help a lot LOL.
@Deoxyr1bose after Hogwarts success the PS-WB partnership is something both parties won't let go for now. MK had an invitation all the time.
@gymratAmarillo Mortal Kombat 11 wasn’t in the original 2020 lineup, which was only a year after it came out. MK11 was also way more of a success than MK1 was. Also I don’t know to what extent Sony controls the game lineup itself. Does Sony really want 3rd Strike of all games? No, the FGC does.
Strange that Sony does not yet have their own fighting game. Either they need to build one from the ground up, or they need to finally marry Namco Bandai.
@Deoxyr1bose Sony doesn't decide everything, that's true. But the same way the EVO GM always answered the "where is ki" with "we have to ask". If you made millions with a partner who happens to have a fg and would benefit from some exposition you can do the same, ask.
@TheCollector316 once EVO Europe is up and running I wouldn't be surprised. Bungie is/was working in what they called a "fighter" but after last year maybe that never happens.
No more smash, it seems.
The 3rd strike tourney should be fun.
I think I need to get Granblue, watched some videos and the game looks sick. Received the SF6 collectors edition today for $80 on PS5. Woot has them on clearance.
I'm really glad GBVR made to EVO.That game is really fun as T8.
@The_Wailing_Doom I thought they had their own Smash game? PlayStation all stars or something?
